News: Kids Are Going to Hate Samsung's New 'Marshmallow' App
Stop me if you've heard this one before. You plop a marshmallow down in front of a kid and propose the following: You can eat this marshmallow now, or you can wait twenty minutes and eat two marshmallows. What do you think the kid is going to do? Better still, what do you think you would do? Personally, I'd eat the first marshmallow without hesitation. But now we're getting off track ... Not really feeling the "Marshmallow Test." Poor kid. Image by IgniterMedia/YouTube Given the world-renowned ability of children everywhere to sit patiently, color us here at Gadget Hacks confused as to why Samsung named their newest parental control app "Marshmallow." Did they really think kids would enjoy being manipulated into spending less time on their phone? Really? For stressed out parents, or people looking to mess with their friends, Marshmallow acts like a "game." The app allows parents to set a limit of time children can spend playing games, watching videos, etc., in separate apps. If kids can stay underneath that time limit, they earn points, which can be redeemed in online gift cards (at the parents' expense, of course). If the child goes over that limit, they lose points. In addition, Samsung has included "Marshmallow mode," which restricts use to only eight apps.Don't Miss: Android Parental Controls 101: Settings to Tweak on Your Kid's PhoneKids can set their own plans as well, which may help give them a feeling of control over their own usage, but if you ask us, that's like John Daggett telling Bane he was in charge, and we all know how that worked out.The Marshmallow app also comes with features commonly found in multitasking and time management apps, such as badges, along with daily and weekly reports. Images by Samsung/Google Play It's an interesting idea, but as most parents will tell you, kids don't like to wait for what they want. It doesn't take a psychic to predict that kids will exceed the time limits established by the app, then become upset when they don't get the gift card. Kids, man.Nonetheless, if you'd like to give it a try on your Galaxy device, you can find the Marshmallow app on the Google Play Store today.Don't Miss: 21 Free Android Apps Your Kids Will LoveFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube Follow Android Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

There I recently read a post about spin-activated LED side caps that fit into the side of yo-yos. They are low-cost ($6) and look very cool; a perfect customizing add-on for any yo-yo. Unfortunately, they only come in one size, thus only fitting a few yo-yos. I thought it'd be a fun project to make my own set (and it was!).

I'd like to access files in an iPhone, such as using remotely connecting via ssh and telnet. But it appears that the iPhone's ssh or telnet are not supported. I can ping it, but cannot use telnet or ssh. I read through some internet article, it appears that using jailbreak or Cydia it is doable, but I guess it would break my iPhone's license.
