How To: This Retro-Styled Game Lets You Shoot Projectiles from One Device to Another
Most smartphone games are clichéd and mundane, but every now and then a mobile game will appear with a new concept or idea that sets it apart from all the rest. While other developers continue to regurgitate the same old "winning" formulas, developer Sebastian Goszyla is changing how we play. With the release of his new game called DUAL, users can play head-to-head in a retro-styled shooter game where both players shoot bullets from one device over to the other. Even better, DUAL is not restricted to one operating system—Android users can challenge their iOS buddies (and vice versa) and settle disputes like gentlemen. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Install DUAL on Both DevicesTo get started, install DUAL (stylized as DUAL!) on both devices, from either the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store.

Step 2: Set Up Your GameOpen the app, then tap and hold on "Duel" to begin a new battle. You'll then be required to either sign in with your Twitter account or simply create a player name. As of right now, to establish a connection, both devices will need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth connectivity is only available for iPhones running iOS 8 (coming soon to Android).

Step 3: Duel It OutOnce both you and your rival are connected and ready to play, make sure both screens are facing directly up, then tilt and move your device to avoid bullets as you tap your screen to shoot back. With an in-app purchase of $1.99, you can unlock extra crafts and a cooperative "Defend" mode so you and your buddy can work together. Considering that it's both free and fun, I definitely suggest trying this game out and challenging your friends to a duel.Follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter to stay up to date on new mobile apps, as well as how-tos and news on anything tech.
